![]() ![]() Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced it was extending its mask order for public transit and travel until May 3. Greater Dayton RTA’s fixed-route buses had about 5.1 million riders in 2021, which was down 13% from 2020, according to agency data obtained by the Dayton Daily News. Ruzinsky said the RTA didn’t have a positive COVID case among its employees for a month and a half until last week, when a worker developed a “mild case.” RTA riders and employees can wear masks if they choose, and the agency will continue to provide masks free of charge, Ruzinsky said. “With vaccine levels up, folks are also more protected which helps a lot with keeping the spread manageable.” “I feel that if we have a major surge again folks will simply mask on their own,” he said. RTA customers who wish to can still wear masks.īut Ruzinsky said most community members have learned how to live with COVID. “Once the mandate was lifted by the courts, and the Biden Administration left it up to each transit system, I thought about how I am proud that over 90% of our drivers are fully vaccinated (and 35% are boosted) and felt the time was right for Dayton RTA to also lift the mask mandate,” he said in an email. The bus will depart from Walmart on the hour and the last bus from Walmart will leave at 3:59 pm.Bob Ruzinsky, RTA’s CEO, said getting rid of his agency’s mask requirement was an easy decision. The bus will proceed to a shopping area which includes Walmart and various restaurants on Dorothy Lane and S. The shuttle will circle campus using a clockwise loop with scheduled stops at the locations shown below. Signs have been posted to identify each stop on campus. Students and staff will need to provide their UD ID to use this service. ![]() Students can track the bus in real time using the RTA app. This service provides convenient transportation for ALL students and will accommodate first year resident students who are not permitted to bring vehicles to campus. This shuttle provides free transports to students on Saturdays from 11:15 am to 4:00 pm. The University of Dayton has partnered with RTA to provide a Saturday Shopping Shuttle.
